Golf, tennis, luxury hotels and a beautiful beach help make Palmetto Dunes a popular oceanfront destination for visitors and a tranquil home for Island residents.

Palmetto Dunes stretches along three miles of coastline and extend across Highway 278 to Shelter Cove, a "sheltered" inlet adjoining the intercoastal waterway. Homes, condominiums and two hotels blend with bike trails, golf courses, restaurants, tennis courts and an 11-mile lagoon system.

Located oceanfront, the luxurious Hilton Head Marriott Resort and Spa has recently undergone a renovation and offers award-winning dining and a lavish new spa. They have 513 guest rooms, many with ocean front rooms and private outdoor terraces.

Guests at the Hilton Head Hilton Oceanfront Resort will find private balconies with great views, award-winning dining, and entertainment. The Ocean Tides Spa, nearby golf courses and ocean-front location add to the appeal.

Golf Courses at Palmetto Dunes Hilton Head

  • The Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes takes advantage of the local topography with a series of rolling dunes.
  • The Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront Course winds along the coast and was named South Carolina Course of the year in 2003.

Both Palmetto Dunes hotels have a variety of dining available ranging from pool side to fine dining. Conroy's Restaurant at the Hilton Head Hilton Hotel is named for famed Lowcountry author Pat Conroy and offers fine dining in the newly-renovated restaurant

Alexander's Restaurant in Palmetto Dunes is located on a picturesque lagoon. They offer hand-selected wines, fresh seafood and hand-trimmed steaks. The scenic lagoon views are a contrast to the vintage Harley Davidson collection housed inside the restaurant.

The Dunes House is a Popular Site for Weddings and Meetings

Hilton Head is a popular wedding destination and guests often combine their own vacation with attending the wedding festivities . The Dunes House in Palmetto Dunes provides an 800-square foot venue with beautiful ocean views that is popular for a wedding location.. The 1000-square foot deck provides additional space for guests.

Dunes House can also be used for business meetings with meals catered.

Shelter Cove Harbor and Marina

Located off the Intercoastal Waterway, Shelter Cove Marina is home to Hilton Head Island's largest deep-water yacht basin. The 15.5 acre marina has 170 boat slips. Although this is a part of the Palmetto Dunes Resort, it is located across Highway 278 from the Resort.

During the summer, local music legend Shannon Tanner has entertained Hilton Head Island children for 20 years. He is featured as part of Shelter Cove's Harborfest, a seasonal event that features arts and crafts, entertainment and fireworks shows.

Fishing and sailing charters, nature charters, boat rentals, crabbing excursions with the kids and dinner cruises can all be arranged through the Shelter Cove Marina.
